This is a very nice crinoid and blastoid association piece from the Lower Burlington Formation of Missouri. The crinoid calyx in the center of the piece is Dorycrinus unicornis. This crinoid displays great detail. The plates of the calyx are very strongly nodose in appearance. The short spine is present in the middle of the tegmen. The large anal opening is quite evident on the specimen. The two blastoids, flanking the crinoid, are Cryptoblastus melo. The blastoids also have nice detail. The ambulacra and spiracles are easily seen. The fossils are very 3-dimensional. The off-white color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the orangish-brown matrix. The natural piece of matrix is littered with crinoid fragments. This is a very aesthetic crinoid/blastoid specimen from the Lower Burlington Formation.
