This is a nice double blastoid plate from the Mississippian of Missouri. The star-shaped blastoid is Orophocrinus stelliformis. Orophocrinus are highly prized by the local collectors. This is a large specimen of this strange fissiculate blastoid. The melon-shaped blastoid is Cryptoblastus melo. This is an extremely nice specimen of this spiraculate blastoid. It exhibits fine detail. The ambulacra are nicely preserved. The spiracles are quite evident. Both blastoids are very 3-dimensional. The white fossils contrast nicely with the orangish-brown matrix. Numerous crinoid fragments are also present on the piece. This is an interesting combination of two different blastoids from the Lower Burlington Formation.
