Here is a very fine plate of crinoids from the Mississippian of Indiana. There are two different camerate crinoids on this slab. Both of the crinoids are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit excellent detail. On the left side of the plate is a fine example of Platycrinites brevinodus. This particular species is quite rare at the Crawfordsville site and this specimen is unusually well preserved. The cup has great plate structure and the arms are complete to the very tips. A short section of twisted stem is still intact. The larger crinoid on the right side of the slab is Macrocrinus mundulus. This pinkish-colored crinoid is just superb. The multi-plated cup is very robust and the biserial arms are complete and exhibit beautiful pinnulation. The long anal tube extends way above the arms and a lengthy section of stem is still attached. The fossils have good color and contrast. They are well positioned on the somewhat oval piece of siltstone. This is a very attractive plate of crinoids from the famous site of Crawfordsville, Indiana.
