Here is a very attractive crinoid. This is Cyathocrinites harrodi from Crawfordsville, Indiana. This type of inadunate crinoid has a somewhat large cup composed of highly ornamented plates and short, stout, uniserial arms that branch many times. This 3-dimensional specimen has excellent plate structure - the plates of the cup are wonderfully articulated and the individual plates of the arms are very easily seen. The arms are nicely splayed and the branching pattern is quite evident. The fossil has great color and contrast. It is well centered on the rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very pretty example of Cyathocrinites harrodi from the Mississippian.
