This is a HUGE flexible crinoid from the DeROSEAR COLLECTION. This is a specimen of Onychocrinus exculptus from Crawfordsville, Indiana. This is one of the more unusual species of Onychocrinus from this area. Doug prepared the specimen in 1985 and it has been in his collection ever since. The crinoid is very 3-dimensional and has excellent detail. The matrix has been excavated between the arms to reveal the fine curling arm tips. The matrix has also been excavated beneath the stem so that it is completely free-standing. The specimen is well centered on a somewhat rounded piece of matrix. This is a very displayable specimen of Onychocrinus exculptus.
