This is museum quality specimen of an unusual crinoid from Crawfordsville, Indiana. This is a Histocrinus coreyi, a relatively uncommon species of crinoid from this location. The detail of the fossil is superb. The crinoid has great color and contrast. The plate structure is excellent and easily seen. The long uniserial arms are somewhat splayed and display the heavy pinnules. The top of the anal tube is seen sticking out between the arms. And the crinoid even has the long stem still attached. This is a textbook specimen of Histocrinus from this classic Mississippian crinoid locality.
