Here is a cute specimen of Dorycrinus gouldi from the famous crinoid site at Crawfordsville, Indiana. The crinoid has very nice plate structure. The distinctive stem is attached to the bottom of the cup and is well articulated. Please notice how the crenulations of the stem change distally. This particular species of Dorycrinus had six spines (probably for protection) arising from the tegmen. Four of these spines are visible on this specimen. The crinoid is well centered on a natural piece of matrix. This is a good specimen of this interesting species of crinoid.
