This is a rare flexible crinoid from the Silurian of New York. This is a fine specimen of Lecanocrinus macropetalus. The crinoid is very well preserved. The plate structure is great. Most specimens of this crinoid do not preserve the arms as nicely as this one does. In this specimen, the arms are folded in at the top. The crinoid is 3-dimensional and has the stem attached. The fossil is positioned on a semi-squared plate of matrix that measures approximately 3.4" X 4.2". This is a very nice specimen of this early flexible crinoid.
