This is a great crinoid from the famous slate of Bundenbach, Germany. This site is one of the few places in the world where soft parts of trilobites have been found. This crinoid specimen is preserved as iron pyrite in the black slate. It is well centered on a naturally square piece of roofing slate that measures 6.0" X 7.6". The crinoid is somewhat 3-dimensional which is unusual for this site. The crinoid has a heavy stem, a large cup, and somewhat recumbant arms. This is an excellent example of this rare crinoid from one of the classic fossil locations in the world.
