Here is a crinoid with a very ornate cup. This is Glyptocrinus decadactylus from the Ordovician of Kentucky. This echinoderm is extremely inflated and exhibits excellent detail. This camerate crinoid has a very large cup composed of numerous stellate plates which are beautifully displayed. Some of the arms are still intact and a lengthy section of stem is tightly attached to the cup. The cream-colored crinoid contrasts wonderfully with the gray matrix. It is nicely presented on the natural plate that also contains another crinoid stem. This is a very striking crinoid from the Ordovician.
