Here is a great example of Dorycrinus mississippiensis, the most diagnostic crinoid from the Keokuk Formation. In 26 years of collecting, we have found less than a dozen specimens of this species. Usually, just the calyx is found. To find a specimen like this, with stem and spines on the same slab, is highly unusual. This crinoid is wonderfully 3-dimensional and the plate structure is quite good. This specimen is one of the finest examples of this species we have ever seen, and was acquired from a major crinoid collection. It is an excellent example of a crinoid from the Keokuk Formation.
