Here is a very appealing crinoid. This is Histocrinus coreyi from the Mississippian of Indiana. This uncommon inadunate crinoid has a small, cone-shaped cup and long arms with stout pinnules. This specimen has unusually complete arms (to the tips) and the strong pinnulation is beautifully defined. A long, curling stem, with many cirri attached, is tightly articulated with the cup. The 3-dimensional fossil has great color and contrast. It is beautifully centered on the squared plate. This is a very detailed example of Histocrinus from the famous Mississippian deposits near Crawfordsville, Indiana.
