This is a beautifully preserved free-swimming, stemless crinoid from the Cretaceous of Hajoula, Lebanon. This crinoid used to be called Pterocoma, but is now classified as Antedon pinnulata. Examples of crinoids from the Cenomanian (95 million year old) deposits of Lebanon are quite uncommon, and fossils in general from this area are very hard to obtain because of years of political unrest. The crinoid has excellent detail preserved the long arms are nicely pinnulated (hard to see in photo). The fossil is beautifully showcased on the large plate of Sublithographic Limestone. This is a rare and collectible sea lily fossil from the Middle East.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
