The crinoid calyx in the center of the piece is Agaricocrinus excavatus. This large crinoid displays great detail - the plates of the calyx are very strongly ornate in appearance. The arm attachment points are quite evident on the specimen. The crinoid on the upper left is Dichocrinus lineatus. This crinoid also has very nice detail. The simple plate structure is easily seen. The fossils are very 3-dimensional, and the off-white color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the orangish-brown matrix. The rectangular piece of matrix also has a beautiful horn coral preserved. This is a great example of two unusual crinoids and horn coral from the Burlington Formation. This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
