This is a stunning plate of crinoids from the Mississippian of Indiana. On the left side of the slab is a complete Platycrinites saffordi crown. This type of crinoid has a large cup composed of ornate plates and long arms that curl inward. The detail of the arms is wonderfully displayed on this crinoid. The crinoid on the right is a very large example of Actinocrinites gibsoni. This type of Camerate crinoid has a large cup with stellate plates and multi-branching, biserial arms. This sea lily exhibits the feathery pinnulation of the arms beautifully. The plate structure of this echinoderm is very impressive, and the arms are splayed and beautifully showcased. The Actino still has a long, articulated stem tightly attached. The fossils have great color and contrast and are aesthetically positioned on the large plate of siltstone. And best of all, the crinoids are totally natural to the plate - they have not been composited. This is a very detailed double crinoid specimen from the famous Edwardsville Formation. (Original paper label included.)

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
