This is a very attractive plate of crinoids from the Mississippian of Indiana. In the center of the slab is a very large Actinocrinites gibsoni. This type of Camerate crinoid has a large cup with stellate plates and multi-branching, biserial arms. This sea lily showcases its ornate anal tube - it is easily seen on the left side of the tips of the arms. The plate structure of this echinoderm is very impressive and the arms are beautifully showcased. To the left of the Actino is a fine Camptocrinus myelodactylus. This crinoid also has great detail preserved. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are nicely positioned on the squared plate of siltstone. And best of all, they are totally natural to the plate - they have not been composited. This is a very impressive, natural double crinoid specimen from the Edwardsville Formation.
