Two Classic Crinoids from Crawfordsville

Name:   Macrocrinus mundulus, Scytalocrinus robustus
Age:  Mississippian
Formation:  Edwardsville Formation
Location:  Crawfordsville, Indiana
Size:  Plate is 4.8 inches tall
Price:  SOLD

This is a nice plate of crinoids from the Mississippian of Indiana. On the bottom of the slab is a Macrocrinus mundulus. This type of Camerate crinoid has an urn-shaped cup composed of many plates, biserial arms, and an extremely long, multi-plated anal tube. The pinnulation of the arms is wonderfully displayed on this crinoid. The crinoid on the right is a very inflated example of Scytalocrinus robustus. This type of crinoid has a small, bowl-shaped cup and long, thin, uniserial arms. This specimen exhibits these features in wonderful fashion. Both crinoids have great color and contrast and are nicely positioned on the plate of siltstone that also contains a small, unidentified crinoid. This is a very distinct multiple crinoid specimen from the Edwardsville Formation.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
