Here is a nice double crinoid specimen from the Mississippian beds of Indiana. On the left side of the plate is a large crinoid in the "starburst" position. This flexible crinoid is Onychocrinus ulrichi. This type of crinoid has a multi-plated base with five stout arms that branch only once near the tips. The arms of this crinoid have tiny ramules that aided in the food-gathering process. At least a portion of four of the five arms have been painstakingly prepared in a free-standing position. The crinoid on the right side of the slab is Macrocrinus mundulus. This camerate crinoid has a cone-shaped cup comprised of many plates and slender, unbranched, biserial arms. The long anal tube extends above the feathery arms on this crinoid. A lengthy portion of stem is still attached to the cup. The echinoderms are very 3-dimensional and exhibit fine plate structure. The fossils have good color and contrast. They are very nicely presented on the rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very dramatic specimen of two different types of crinoids.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
